Raymond P. and Diane M. Jarvis of Fairhaven are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter Michelle Anne to Matthew David Michaud. Matthew is the son of Michael E. and Patricia A. Michaud of Mattapoisett.
Michelle graduated from Bishop Stang High School and from Providence College where she earned a bachelor's degree in marketing. She is currently pursuing a master's degree in business administration at the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth. She is employed in the fashion marketing industry.
Matthew graduated from Bishop Stang High School and from Wheaton College where he earned a bachelor's degree in economics. He is employed in data sales.
The couple plan to be wed in August at Holy Trinity Church in West Harwich, MA.
Obituaries
Jeffrey J. Wrobel, 43 of Wareham, MA passed away on March 1, 2010 at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston after a brief illness.
Jeff was born in Utica, NY, on April 29,1966. He was the son of Catherine Wrobel and the late John J. Wrobel of Mattapoisett. He was the loving brother of Kristen E. Mathieu and her husband Peter, Rochester, Lynette A. Lander and her husband, Arthur, Rochester and Maureen E. Prouty and her husband, Richard, Mattapoisett. He was the caring and devoted uncle to Taylor and Nick Mathieu and the late Molly Mathieu of Rochester. Jeff is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friend Jessica Shepardson.
Jeff was a member of the Army National Guard. He attended S.M.U. in Dartmouth where he was extremely active and enjoyed many years as a DJ at the college's radio station, WSMU. There, he was able to showcase his knowledge and love of music. We always knew that Jeff had arrived when you could feel the beat of the bass of his car stereo coming down the street. He was the owner of Lazarus Communications and was rated number one on "allexperts.com." Jeff will be remembered for his big heart, compassion, and his ability to engage, debate and discuss any subject.

Louis de Sousa, 69, of Fairhaven, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at his winter home in Gibsonton, Florida. He was the husband of Joyce (Avila) de Sousa.
Born in Sao Miguel, Azores, he lived most of his life in Fairhaven. He was one of the key contributors to the establishment of Little People's College, Inc., where he had been employed since 1980.
A dedicated father and "vavo," he relished in sharing great stories with his family. He enjoyed spending time with his beloved wife at his Florida home, getting together with his friends at Honey Dew Donuts and going to antique car shows.
Survivors include his wife; three children, Melissa of Sandwich, Cory of Rochester and Adam of Fairhaven and five grandchildren.

Richard Paul "Dickie" Cruz, 86, of Dorchester, formerly of Wareham, died March 1, 2010 at home. He was the husband of Stella (Fonseca) Cruz and the son of the late John B. Cruz, Sr. and Caroline (Pina) Cruz. He was born in Wareham and lived in Dorchester for many years.
Mr. Cruz was an Army Veteran of WWII serving in the American Theater, Asiatic Pacific Theater, & European African Middle Eastern Theater.
Mr. Cruz founded the Pasadena Construction Company and served as its chief executive officer. He later worked as supervisor for his brother's construction firm, John B. Cruz Construction Company in Boston. He also owned and operated "Rocky Manor", a jazz club in Wareham for many years and later developed townhouses on that property.
He was a member of the Dudley L. Brown V.F.W. Post 2846 in Onset, Youth Build Boston and the Contractors Association of Boston.
Mr. Cruz spent many summers on Martha's Vineyard. His personal mantra was love for family and live life to the fullest.
Survivors include his wife, Stella (Fonseca) Cruz; his daughter, Cheryl A. Cruz Middleton and her husband, William of Altadena, CA; 2 granddaughters, Brandy Middleton and Megan Middleton both of Altadena, CA; sister-in-law, Tina Fonseca of New Bedford; niece, Marlene Sterling of Melbourne, FL; his siblings, Winifred Holford and Daniel "Sonny" Cruz of Boston, Wilford "Fifi" Cruz of Washington, D.C., Walter B. Cruz, Sr. of Wareham and Andrea Rose of Mattapoisett; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many loving friends. He was the brother of the late Doris Vincent, Harold Cruz, Walter Cruz (the eldest), John "Bertie" Cruz, Jr., Priscilla Martin, Bertha May, Thelma Franklin, Gerald Pina and Geraldine Pina.
Arrangements were by the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Hwy., (Rte.28), Wareham,. Burial was in the St. Patrick's Cemetery, Wareham.
Michael F. Englehart, age 62 years, of Brockton, died unexpectedly at his home March 2, 2010. Born in Boston, he was a son of John Englehart of Middleboro and the late Violet (Mahaney) Englehart.
Survivors include his father, five brothers, Robert Englehart of York, Maine, Patrick Englehart of New Hampshire, Paul Englehart of New York, Kenneth and George Englehart, both of Florida; five sisters, Virginia Englehart of Florida, Marion Green of Connecticut, Madelyn Englehart of New York, Elizabeth Thomas of Middleboro and Kathleen Englehart of Rochester; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was the brother of the late Richard, Steven and Edward Englehart.

Joseph F. Joe Clancy, 85, of Whitman, died March 1, in Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Helen (Minihan) Clancy.
Joe was born in Brockton, son of the late Joseph Clancy and Mary (Anzakowski) Clancy. He worked as an inspector for the Massachusetts State Department of Labor and Industries for 30 years. Joe enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the age of 17 and spent three years in the South Pacific during World War II. He served from 1942-1946. He was a communicant of the Holy Ghost Church in Whitman, a longtime member of the Carpenters Union Local 624 of Brockton, a member of Mass. Organization of State Engineer and Scientists and past member of the Whitman VFW.
He loved his family, taking care of his home, which he built himself 60 years ago. Joe enjoyed watching TV and going on the bus to Foxwoods, loved entering contests and buying scratch tickets, going to the Cape Cod Canal and eating scallops at Woodys. He was an avid Red Sox fan.
In addition to his beloved wife Helen, he is survived by his children, Timothy J. Clancy and his wife Candice of Hanson, Daniel Clancy and his wife Nancy of Hanson, Edward Clancy of Las Vegas, Kathleen Collins and her husband David of Delaware and Maureen Smith and her husband Lawrence of Raynham; his brother, Gerald Clancy of Marion; his grandchildren, Timothy, Michael, Meggan and Matthew; his great-grandchildren, Kiley and Alexis; and many nieces and nephews. Ruth Ann (Gagne) Morin, 55, of Fairhaven, died Thursday, March 4, 2010, in St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford after a long illness. She was the wife of Bruce A. Morin., with whom she shared a thirty-five year marriage.
Born in Fairhaven, the daughter of the late Wilfred and the late Virginia (Caton) Gagne, she was a lifelong resident of the town. Ruth graduated from Fairhaven High School and was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Fairhaven.
She enjoyed traveling, gardening and her cats. Ruth was an avid bowler and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Ruth leaves two sons, Brad W. Morin and his wife Allison of New Bedford and Eric A. Morin and his companion Felisha of Fairhaven; a daughter, Jaclyn A. Beebe and her husband Jeffrey of Sabattus, ME; a brother, Brian Gagne of Dartmouth; two sisters, Jacqueline Silveira of Mattapoisett and Diane Tanque of Fairhaven; four grandchildren, Nathan and Renee Morin, Madison Koch and Liliana Phaneuf; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Morin was the sister of the late Robert Gagne.

Antone Turcato, 88, of Rochester died after a long illness on March 1, 2010 at the Royal of Fairhaven. He was the widower of Anna (Soares) Turcato.
Mr. Turcato was born in Plymouth, son of the late Ludavino and Maria (Souza) Turcato, and resided in Rochester most of his life. He attended the First Congregational Church of Rochester. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He was employed as a watch repairman by Flor Jewelers, Dartmouth until his retirement. He was a member of the Rochester Senior Bowling League and the Rochester Senior Citizens. He enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and card playing.
Survivors include his daughter: Anne Ashley and her husband Elton A., Jr. of Rochester; 2 granddaughters: Tracey A. Buzniak and her husband Christopher A. of Acushnet and Elizabeth A. Ashley of Rochester; 2 great-grandchildren: Ashlyn E. and Andrew E. Buzniak both of Acushnet; and several nieces & nephews. He was brother of the late Victoria Souza and stepbrother of the late Joseph and John Miguel.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service at 9:30 A.M. on Friday, March 12, 2010 at the Rochester Center Cemetery, Rochester.

Florence H. (Bumpus) Bassett "Cookie," age 93, of Rochester, died Sunday, March 7, 2010, at Toby Hospital in Wareham. She was the wife of the late Arthur Bassett.
Born in Rochester, a daughter of the late George W. and Lillie M. (Sherman) Bumpus, she was a lifelong resident of Rochester.
Mrs. Bassett was a 1935 graduate of Wareham High School and was employed as a clerk for both Atlantic Mills and Arland's in New Bedford until her retirement. She was an avid bowler belonging to the Seniors of Mattapoisett and Rochester Leagues.
Survivors include two sons, George Bassett and his wife, Janice of Marion and Arthur Bassett and his companion, Joan Nelson of W. Wareham; ten grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandsons. She was also mother of the late Bob Bassett. All are invited to attend her graveside service, to be held on Thursday, March 11, 2010, at 9:30am in Sherman Cemetery on Pine St., in Rochester.
